Defibrillators for schools

Every week in the UK, 12 ‘fit & healthy’ young people die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. In an emergency like this, the immediate delivery of therapeutic defibrillation provides the best possible chance of survival. In 2012 Woking Community First Responders provided free defibrillators and training sessions to schools and colleges in the local area.

Background
Every year in the UK, hundreds of young people die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) within our schools. In the majority of instances these deaths could have been prevented or successfully treated. A defibrillator is the only course of treatment for certain cardiac arrhythmias.

Result: 10 secondary schools were provided with free AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators), and the associated training in the local area – providing cover for thousands of school children, teachers and school visitors.
